City/Fan notes...
Minneapolis (Market
Size: Above Average), nicknamed "City of Lakes" and the "Mill
City," is the largest
city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Its name is attributed to the
city's first schoolteacher, who combined mni, the Dakota word for
water, and polis, the Greek word for city.
Minneapolis, home of Blue Sox baseball, lies on both banks of the
Mississippi River, just north of the river's confluence with the
Minnesota River, and adjoins Saint Paul, the state's capital. Also
known as
the Twin Cities, Minneapolis-Saint Paul is one of the largest
metropolitan areas in the U.S.
Blue Sox fans are hard working
citizens who pride themselves on their blue collar image. They expect
the same work ethic from each member of the team. In fact, any
player who slacks off is booed and ripped in the press. However,
the fans heartily support the organization even in bad times.
