Are Repeat CHAMPS!
 The Cape City Corsairs took down the Oakdale Nightbirds
24-13 to become the MFL's first back-to-back champion. Cape City's blue collar
defense went to work early as it kept the Nightbirds off the board in the
first quarter and pretty much contained their passing game through most of
the first half. Meanwhile, the Cape City offense scored on a drive that
culminated in a 4 yard TD run. That was the first score of the game. But,
in the second quarter, the Nightbirds struck back with a piercing pass to
the endzone. Still, the halftime score favored Cape City, 10-7. But, in the
third quarter the Corsairs scored another rushing TD to keep the Birds at
bay. Then, the Nightbirds mounted drives that resulted in FG's to trail 17-13.
But, late in the 4th quarter, the Corsairs were able to turn the momentum
with a crucial interception that put a halt to the Nightbirds deep drive.
Next, with just over two minutes left, Oakdale shattered the Nightbirds hopes
when they ripped off a 60 yard TD run that stunned the Oakdale crowed, but
sent the Corsair faithful into cheerful delirium. In fact, it sealed the
repeat title for Cape City. The Corsairs passed for 120 yards, 0 TD's and
rushed for 290 yards and 3 TD's. Next, they travel home to, once again, celebrate
with their fans in downtown Cape City....
