SEASON
RECAP: Dunberry
never felt far away from a bigger breakthrough, but the final record
settled at 7-6-0. Offensively, QB Joe Jernigan posted 2719 passing
yards, 21 touchdowns, 9 interceptions; HB Roosevelt Franklin posted 656
rushing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 0 lost fumbles; and WR Gene Carter
posted 59 catches for 875 yards, 6 touchdowns. On defense, DLT/NG Rick
Stafford posted 66 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 6 sacks. Good
results against Gotham, Newport Bay, and St. Cruze kept optimism alive,
although losses to Easton and Metropolis changed the tone of the
season. The club opened the playoffs by beating St. Patrick, but the
next step ended against Easton.
