In cold, pouring rain at Dunberry Stadium, Brandenburg struck early behind QB Chuck Hudson’s big arm. After a 51-yard bomb to Frances Henning set the tone, the Brahmas finished the opening drive with a 1-yard Terry Miller touchdown run.

The third quarter turned into a defensive grind—especially for Brandenburg—despite occasional sparks. Dunberry moved the ball early, but penalties and punts killed momentum. Brandenburg threatened with a long Middleton catch and even tried a 52-yard field goal, but it came up short. A key sequence of sacks on Hudson later in the quarter kept the Brahmas from extending the lead, and the score remained 20–7.

In overtime, Brandenburg got the break it needed—Alvin Smith intercepted Borden and returned it to the 2-yard line—setting up Gregory Murphy’s 2-yard walk-off touchdown run for a 26–20 Brandenburg win.
